Tuesday oh Tuesday

I love Tuesdays. I do not work on Tuesdays. I am meant to do constructive things like the groceries, the housework, paying bills, selling things on ebay, heading to the post office. Instead, I see friends on Tuesdays. We drink coffee and eat cake together, our children charge around the house, playing anything from cars to superheros. It is a free day of no hassle.

Today was exceptionally wonderful, busy but wonderful; The sun was out, and there was no rain, to me that is a miracle in England in November. My friends arrived around 10:30, the children all four of them found the loudest toys possible to play with and off they went. Today’s meeting was meant to be centred around finalising our “First Women’s Breakfast”. The idea came out of nowhere, when I produced from the fridge the largest pot of maple syrup that my husbands family had brought over from America on their last visit to see us. Pancakes were soon discussed and there the idea of getting a group of women together, for coffee, pancakes, bacon maple syrup and freshly squeezed orange juice. We have planned it for Saturday 1st December at my house.

So today we briefly discussed the breakfast, by that I mean five minutes before everyone left  we agreed at start time of nine or was it nine thirty!

Pasta was cooked, the table laid and seven hungry tummies were filled. After lunch the boys happily iced some fairy cakes they had made earlier. I use the word iced in the loosest possible term. As from what I witnessed, spoons went into the bowl of icing and then swiftly into the smiling mouths of four happy boys.

I do have two commitments that are non negotiable on a Tuesday. Firstly a co-facilitate a Recovery Now group at the local community centre. It is a group for those seeking freedom from drug and alcohol addiction. It is still in its early stages but on average we get three or four regulars coming along seeking help. This is one of my biggest passions, and I mean it, I am proper passionate about seeing lives change.

My second commitment on a Tuesday is taking Noah to his Kumon class. Now for Noah this is great. He gets to take his blue folder full of “his work” into “his classroom” and do various different activities. I on the other hand have to wait around for half an hour making polite conversation with other parents. Now I find this difficult, I get nervous, I feel less than all the other parents, I become insecure and then I say something completely inappropriate! It happens every time!

Welcome to blogland. Thank you for reminding me to do mine. You? Saying something inappropriate? Can’t imagine that!

I know…I mean it would be unthinkable of me to open my mouth before engaging my brain!
